Alvaro Robles, also known as Varo, is a Mexican American fine art photographer, digital composite artist and activist from South Gate California. His work greatly contributed to the success of Mexican Regional Music in modern mainstream America and who’s work is yet to be matched.
In 2010, Varo began producing photography and album art for Mexican Corrido Folk Artist, Gerardo Ortiz and Régulo Caro. Their collaborations helped launch the entire genre into the popular charts. For many years prior, Mexican Culture had been disregarded and villainized by American television. By the end of 2011, “Billboard Mexican Music Awards”, were created to counter the rising popularity of Mexican Culture in American society. As Creative Art Director, Photographer and Album Art Designer for the most popular Mexican Regional Artist of his time, Varo set a new high standard for visual quality in the Mexican Music Industry. In 2013, Varo decided to part ways to focus on developing his own brands, businesses and other personal projects that have been part of his life’s work thus far.
Varo’ experience amplified his sense of the world. He’s now more community driven and aims to inspire the next generation of Mexican American Professionals that will bring upon the healing of our Native Brown Communities and allow the next generation to be empowered more than the last. To create, innovate, inspire and transform the world into a better place not just for the few, but for the many.
